Project Management Workshop



Course Objective

To provide an overview of project management with a range of practical tools and techniques, which are proven to enable the successful delivery of projects.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish between project management and operational management
  • Recognise the nature of project management - key support roles, key stages in the life of a project and the project manager's role
  • Define and negotiate realistic objectives, scope and constraints for projects
  • Enable people to participate appropriately in decision-making and planning
  • Anticipate potential problems and identify necessary action
  • Break down work in a structured and more manageable way
  • Order the work in a logical way
  • Recognise how to determine the length of a project and manage resources within it - the "critical path" and use of GANTT charts
  • Use milestones to motivate and focus effort on objectives
  • Evaluate a range of techniques to track and control project progress
  • Identify key activities in closing a project
